Alliance for Land, Indigenous and Environmental Defenders

ALLIED works to build protection skills among defenders, strengthen government and business safeguards for defenders, and protect civil society actors who are addressing root causes of threats and attacks on defenders.

ALLIED-Global’s purpose is to contribute to a safe and enabling environment for Indigenous, Land and Environmental Defenders (ILEDs).

ALLIED-Global works to 1) Reduce the fragmentation of data and create a global consolidated database of lethal and non-lethal attacks faced by environmental defenders, 2) Secure stronger frameworks for the protection of environmental defenders and the implementation of existing norms and effective responses to the criminalization of defenders, as well as to 3) Increase the support for environmental defenders, coordinate the work of the organizations working to support them, and bring defenders closer to their supporters.
