Collective Protection focuses on safeguarding collective actors—such as organizations, communities, and groups at risk for defending human rights—through strategies, measures, and actions designed to ensure security for community members and to integrate social practices that strengthen resilience in threatening contexts.
The Collective Protection Resources platform, backed by the Zero Tolerance Initiative, serves as an accessible exchange space for best practices, training, and resources for collective protection. Built upon a comprehensive review of resources for human rights defenders, this platform prioritizes low-bandwidth accessibility and practical training to empower Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and local communities to defend their territories, forests, livelihoods, and rights.
The platform’s database was developed from a comprehensive review of resources on community-led strategies for prevention and protection against retaliation, ensuring easy access to tools that strengthen communities’ capacities to protect their lands and rights effectively.
